Below you will find some Frequently Asked Questions about Maternity Photography that we have been asked throughout our years in business. Although these are the most commonly asked questions, we understand you or a loved one may have a more specific question about maternity portraiture, so do not hesitate to contact us as we are glad to answer any questions you may have.
How far along in my pregnancy should I have these photographs taken?
The great majority of our clients have their images taken in the third trimester of their pregnancy, or more specifically between 28 and 32 weeks. Although, there are instances when the images may be captured earlier depending if one is starting to show. Baby Belly Pics has taken them as late as 39 weeks, but usually those are rush appointments scheduled from one day to the next.
What should I wear for the photo shoot?
It can be as simple and casual as jeans and a t-shirt, or a predetermined maternity outfit. By far the most requested are our fabric, sheer drapings, and wraps that create a one of a kind artistic feel to the portraits. We suggest you view our gallery to see what style you like and contact us for a more specific styling idea session.
It seems like many of your subjects are partially nude and I’m not sure I feel comfortable posing that way, can I choose how to pose?
Some of our images have been created to capture the natural beauty of motherhood, such as by emphasizing the belly while covering the body using the subject’s hands or fabrics. All of these images have been taken by the customers own request and have kindly allowed us to use them on our website for example purposes. Also, some of these images have been captured while the subject is wearing “nude colored lingerie” which gives a natural look yet adds privacy to the image. We adjust to your comfort level and recommend the best way to capture the look based on your desires.
Can my husband or older child be included in the photoshoot?
Absolutely! There is no supplemental charge for additional people in the photographs. As a matter of fact we have even had clients bring their pets to the session.
How long does it take to view my photographs?
You will be able to view, select, and purchase your images immediately following the photo shoot. We have a state of the art media room where you will be able to view and compare your photos the same day they are taken.
Can I have at least an enlargement ready by my baby shower?
Yes, no problem! We can handle rush orders.
Do you retouch stretch marks, cellulite, unwanted pounds, and/or bloating?
Simply put, yes. Our expert staff of retouching artists are prepared to listen to your requests and digitally adjust and enhance the photographs to absolute perfection; all while maintaining a very natural and believable appearance to the image.
Can I do a couple of different looks in the studio?
Yes, many times clients request some images suitable for family gift giving in addition to a more artistic look that they would like for themselves to cherish privately.
